In April 2010 we headed out to the coast to record our full-length at The Hive Studios in Vancouver, BC. Bro and all-around swell dude, Jizzy Thunder, used his soft hands and gentle touch to polish 10 turds up real nice producing what is now our debut full-length Think About It. The songs on the record stretch from one of the first songs we wrote as a band (Drunks & Thieves) all the way to songs that came together the day before we left to record (Southern Cross).
Our friends Andrew Candela and Heather Johnston helped us out with some singing on the record. Jesse Gander tickled the ivories as well. Sporsley babysat us and provided moral (and leftwing lock) support. The artist extraordinaire for this record was Jaynus O'Donnell who knocked it out of the park with the cover. Go check out her stuff if you ever have the chance. JJ Golden mastered the record. Our pal (and new resident of The Big Smoke) Tim Green did the insert.
A big ol' one finger salute to Busters Towing for towing us, Berr, and a dozen others from East Hastings. Playing "Dude, Where's My Van?" at 2:30 is only entertaining in retrospect.
Mountain Firez Tour commences in a day. We'll be hitting Vancouver for a one-off show with Slates, The Parallels, and Cop Shades. All great bands that we're pretty pumped to play with.
On the way back we'll be stumbling through Hinton to play another rug cutter at the Woodcutter this time with The Old Sins.
Wunderbar was bangin' last week. Thanks to Chrispy for tweaking our knobs and getting it to sound just right. Winona is going to take a bit of time off, but she'll be back in full force in a few months.
Other than that, we are busy stuffing records in sleeves, sleeves in jackets, jackets in plastic. Although it's a pretty menial task, it's also the most rewarding seeing a few months of preparation come together into the final package. Can't wait to tour and release the LP. The tour dates are also up on the left hand side. WOO! Can't wait to see Frogman this weekend.
Tomorrow night at the basement to this place our good friends in Whiskeyface are going to be having their tour kickoff and CD release. Choicey Moves on face melters and Bon Wattson providing moral support.
